What this licence is for
Promoters, venues, festivals and press need artwork, photos and a bio to announce a show or write about it. This page says what you may take from the press kit, how to use it, and where the line is. If you stay inside it you do not need to ask. If you want something outside it, write to hello@jonasmonteiro.com and we will usually say yes.
What is in the press kit
- The artist profile and biography, as published on the bio page.
- Approved press photographs and the Jonas Monteiro and Jovah logos, supplied on request.
- The technical and hospitality rider, from the booking page.
- Official links: the site, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify.
Anything else on the site (event photos, videos of sets, article text) is not part of the kit unless we say so.
Who may use it, and for what
You may use the press kit if you are:
- a promoter, venue or festival that has confirmed a booking with us, to promote that event;
- a journalist, blog, podcast or broadcaster covering the artist, an event, or a release;
- a label, distributor or streaming platform working on an official release.
The licence is non-exclusive, free of charge, and limited to the event, article or release it was supplied for. It ends when that use ends. A poster for a show in October does not licence a New Year's Eve flyer.
How to use it
- Name and spelling. "Jonas Monteiro" for most bookings. "Jovah" for Afrobeats and Afrohouse sets. Ask if you are unsure which applies to your line-up.
- Credit. Photos credit the photographer where one is named on the file or in the kit, otherwise "Photo: courtesy Jonas Monteiro".
- Editing. You may crop, resize, and adjust colour for print. You may not add or remove people, change the logo, or place the artist's image next to text or products that suggest a message they never gave.
- Bio. You may shorten the bio. Do not add claims, awards or affiliations that are not in it.
- Logos. Use the supplied files at legible size with clear space around them, on a background that keeps them readable.
What is off limits
- Implying that the artist endorses a product, brand, venue, political party, religious body or cause. Being on your line-up is not an endorsement.
- Merchandise, NFTs, or any product carrying the artist's name, likeness or logos.
- Advertising that is not about the specific event, coverage or release the kit was supplied for.
- Announcing a show before the booking is confirmed in writing, or after it has been cancelled.
- Using the artist's voice, likeness, mixes or recordings to train, fine-tune or prompt an AI system, or to generate synthetic performances.
- Selling, sub-licensing or handing the kit to anyone outside the event, coverage or release it was supplied for.
- Recording, streaming or broadcasting a set without permission from the artist or artist management. This is separate from the press kit: it comes from the rider on the booking page and the booking agreement for the event.
Music and recordings
Original tracks and mixes stay with the artist and, where released, with the labels and platforms that carry them. To play them in your content, embed the official YouTube, SoundCloud or Spotify players, which handle the licensing. Syncing a recording to your own video, advert or trailer needs a separate written licence.
Photos that include other people
Some press and event photos include other artists, guests or venue staff. Where that is the case the licence covers the artist's likeness only. It is your responsibility to make sure anyone else in the frame has agreed to the use you are making of the image.
Taking something down
We may withdraw the licence for a specific use by written notice, for example if an event is cancelled or a use goes beyond what this page allows. On notice, remove the material from online channels within 48 hours and stop new print runs. Copies already printed and distributed do not need to be recalled.
If we use your material
Photos, video and quotes that venues, photographers and press share with us may appear on this site and on our social channels with credit. Tell us at hello@jonasmonteiro.com if you would rather we did not, or if a credit is missing or wrong, and we will fix it within 30 days.
